TL;DR

BaReader does not sell your data, does not store your voice, and collects only anonymised crash and usage data. Your recipes stay on your device.

1. Introduction

BaReader ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the BaReader mobile application ("the App") available on the Apple App Store.

By using BaReader, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

BaReader does not require you to create an account. The following data may be generated through your use of the App:

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

We may automatically collect anonymised technical data to help improve the App:

2.3 Microphone and Speech Data

BaReader uses your device microphone to detect cocktail names through Apple's Speech Recognition framework. We do not record, store, transmit, or have any access to your audio or voice data.

Speech recognition is processed by Apple's on-device or server-based speech recognition service, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. BaReader receives only the transcribed text output (e.g., "Daiquiri") and immediately discards it after matching against recipe names.

2.4 Subscription and Purchase Information

In-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. BaReader does not process, store, or have access to your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID.

3. How We Use Information

The limited data we collect is used solely for:

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than improving the App.

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

We may use third-party services strictly for crash reporting and analytics. Any such providers are contractually required to keep data confidential. These include:

4.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law or court order, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of BaReader, our users, or the public.

5. Data Storage and Retention

All recipe data, settings, and user-generated content are stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers that store your personal data. If you enable iCloud Backup on your device, Apple may back up this data according to Apple's policies.

Anonymised crash and analytics data may be retained for up to 12 months, after which it is deleted or permanently anonymised.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the data we collect. Keep your iOS software up to date as a best practice.

7. Children's Privacy

BaReader is not directed at children under 17 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 17. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
